Hi Andrew,
Thank you for posting in SBS newsgroup.
>From your description, I understand that you see the event log "Exchange
Information Store Service terminated with server specific error 0 Event ID
7024" when you recovery SBS2003.
I would like to emphasis the following points based on my research:
1. The supported way to backup and restore SBS is described in the
following document:
Backing Up and Restoring Windows Small Business Server 2003
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/d/8/bd8e1a40-d202-429a-8eb7-26300d6
2bcc9/BKU_BkupRstr.doc
2. There are many known issues if using ArcServe to backup and restore the
Exchange data and this may cause the issue.
We will try our best to provide the assistance. However, if the problem
cannot be resolved after performing all troubleshooting steps, you may need
to reinstall SBS in the future.
Since many possibilities may cause this issue, please perform the steps in
the following articles to see if the issue can be resolved:

If the problem still persists, please check if there are any other error
messengers because this issue usually appears with other errors at the same
time. Please check if there are other issues in the Application event log
and System event log. If so, please post the detailed error messenger to
newsgroup.
Hope the information help.
Best regards,

| Hi,
|
|
| We are in the process of performing a disaster recovery. We use ArcServe
as
| a backup solution. Since we do not have the full Disaster Recovery agent,
| our approach was to reinstall SBS2003 from the CD's. This went fine. We
then
| used ArcServe in Active Directory restore mode and restored the system
| state. From this point on, the exchange information store service will
not
| start. The following appears in the event log.
|
| Exchange Information Store Service terminated with server specific error
0
| Event ID 7024.
|
| The articles on the MS website are a little confusing on eactly why we
are
| getting this error.
|
| Until we can get the Exchange store started again, we cannot restore the
| ArcServe exchange backup.
|
| Any help would be much appreciated.
|
| Thanks
|
| Andrew
