Hi,
Thanks for using the SBS newsgroup.
As your description, it seems that you want to know if there will be some
impact on the monitoring and reporting tools on SBS 2003, if you uninstall
the Exchange 2003.
Generally speaking, The Monitoring component must be installed the first
time setup runs. On subsequence setups, you can choose to Remove or
Reinstall the component.
Setup will install and configure the following components that are related
to monitoring and reporting of the server:
1. Registry Keys
2. Monitoring and Reporting Files
3. Active Directory Configuration
4. IIS Virtual Directory
5. Health Monitor
In addition to these components installed by the setup, the following will
be installed and configured by Monitoring Configuration Wizard (MCW):
1. MSDE database
2. Server Status Report (SSR) Task Scheduler tasks
3. Internet Monitoring Service
If you uninstall the Exchange 2003 on the SBS 2003, it will impact the send
alert e-mails function at this tools. Also it will impact the sending email
function at the sharepoint service. As we do not have a definite answer for
which kinds of function it will impact, we do not recommend to uninstall
the exchange on the SBS 2003.
Hope the above information helpful, if you have any further concerns please
let me know. I am glad to be any further updates.
Best regards,
Charles Yang (MSFT)
