There's a lot of reasons I like Trend. First - I have a long history with
them, going back to the SBS 4.5 days. Second, I'm a firm believer that they
represent the best overall value for our customers in an A/V solution.
Third, I've been able to develop several personal contacts within Trend -
which gives me more of a relationship with them. Last - in all of the years
I've been using Trend - the 2.594 pattern update is the first Trend issue to
ever affect me or my customers. And we have several clients who are running
Symantec A/V - because they were running that when we acquired them as
customers. Even though the number of Symantec customers we have represent a
small percentage of our client base (~5%), I've spent WAY more time on the
phone with Symantec tech support and fighting weird issues with Symantec
than I've ever spent with Trend. As a matter of fact, in 6 years - I'm
pretty sure this is the first time I've had to face *any* support issue with
Trend . . .
Having said that - have I pinged my contacts at Trend regarding this issue?
You betcha. No one is infallable - but events like this are unacceptable.
I just hope this doesn't happen again as I truly like Trend and do not want
to have to go through moving customers to another solution . . .
