Re: Reaching public NNTP servers through SBS 2003 Std.

Hi Fanie,

Thanks for updates.

Here I would give you some suggestion on this issue:

1. If you try to access the ISP NNTP on your SBS 2003, the problem exists
or not?
2. After checking your router setting, please make sure that the internal
IP address of the router should be the default gateway of SBS internal
domain. Also make sure that the router's external IP should assigned by the
ISP's DHCP or static IP assigned by the ISP. The external NIC of your SBS
should be set in the same subnet of router's internal IP. And the default
gateway on this NIC should be point to the router's internal IP.
3. Another question, does your router offered the firewall for your domain?
Or you only have RRAS as your firewall? If your router have firewall for
your SBS, please temporally disable the RRAS firewall as a test to see if
the issue still exist?

I appreciate your understanding on this issue. Please paste the results as
your earliest convenience.

Best regards,

Charles Yang (MSFT)
