RE: I'd like to use IMAP

Hi Steve,

Thank you for posting in SBS newsgroup.

After setting the IMAP service to automatic, you may run the Configure
Email and Internet Connection Wizard (CEICW) to allow inbound access as
following:

1. Click on Start and then click on Server Management
2. Click on the To Do List and choose "Connect to the Internet"
3. Follow the Wizard's prompts until you reach the Firewall dialog and
then Choose "Enable Firewall".
4. Click Next.
5. On the Services Configuration screen, click on the add button. Add the
appropriate entry:

Service Name: IMAP4 inbound
Protocol: TCP
Port: 143

5. Follow the wizard's prompts to complete the setup.

To get detailed information, you may refer to the RESOLUTION of the
following KB article:

After above settings, you could access the IMAP service on your SBS 2k3
server from internet. To test the connectivity of your server from
internet, you could use the telnet command to test the specified port
connectivity. Such as:

Telnet YourserverIP 143 (Test IMAP)

If the command runs successfully, a blank screen will appear.

Regarding the client setting, you may refer to the following KB article:

In addition, you may make sure if the Exchange Server mailbox alias is
different from the Microsoft Windows user account name. To get detailed

| I have a Treo650 and would like to access my SBS2003 Exchange email
account
| using an IMAP client called Chatter. I have enabled the IMAP4 service to
| auto start using services.msc. What would the client settings be to use
the
| default IMAP server on SBS? Would I use the same user name as my SBS2003
| log in? How about the IMAP server and SMTP server names?
| mail.domainname.com for both or either? To try and keep it simple I'm
just
| trying to access it first from outlook on my laptop. No luck yet. TIA
