Re: Offsite Backup

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

The answer is ... it depends!

It depends on what you consider a worst case scenario, on how you plan to
replace your hardware, on how you plan to retrieve your backup files from
this offiste location, on the availability of your original installation
CD's/DVD's, of your license agreements and product codes, on how fast you
need (or expect) to bring up a new system, etc., etc.

Most of us, for example, do a full tape backup of our SBS systems every
night (rather than doing incremental / differential backups), only to
minimize the down time in case you need to replace or reload your server.
Frank McCallister posted the other day where a customer's server died, and
because he had a full backup (Windows O/s, Exchange, data), he was able to
restore the server in less than 2 hours, IIRC.
