More Traps for Young(ish) Players

Recently completed a largish SBS2003 install - all new IBM XP workstations,
nice HP ML350G4 server (with grunt - though I wish HP would give us the
option to dispense with all their add-ons...). Since the old peer-to-peer
network already had broadband, the new network set up nice and easily. (Yes,
when nothing goes wrong, you worry what's wrong...) But all worked well -
except RWW. Rechecked everything -reran the wizards, checked the router.
Found that we could access the server via TS and VPN, but no RWW. Upgraded
router firmware, checked Netgear's website for tips - you know the drill,
wasted hours on this, thinking it was our fault and the client of course was
expecting work under warrantee.
Ran a port scanner - that's funny - all ports under 1024 totally blocked.
Router stuffed? Tried a new one, same problem. Wasn't DNS - couldn't even
access the site via IP address. Put on brave face and enquired from client
all about the deal with his ISP. Turns out that he hadn't been aware of it -
so he said - but he had forgotten that this particular ISP has a "supa deal"
whereby small businesses, for just $19.95/month, could utilise the ISP's
firewall... AAARRGGGHHHH!!!!!!
The worst part of this is that the client thinks all our wasted time is OK,
because all the gear is still under warrantee... (message ends with quiet
sobbing.)
