Re: Can you share a printer in Active Directory if it is physically attached to a client machine



If you choose the option on the Sharing tab in printers, the printer
connected to the client PC will show up in AD. It'll work fine with dhcp -
you don't have to do anything special other than the usual sharing procedure
and clicking the AD box. My office mate and I share a printer connected to
her computer this way.

FYI, the two very minor sticking points are that as you say, her PC needs to
be turned on. And, occasionally someone will print to it by mistake as SBS
installs it on all the client machines automatically. Of course I could
handle that with permissions, but it doesn't happen enough to bother.
