Well, I do have a SMC700ABR between the box and the DSL modem. But the
advantage of using the Win2003 connector is that you don't have to power
down the router every time you disconnect for some reason.
I also think that I have a PPPOE client built into the DSL modem itself.
However, the service provider's support, Earthlink, was so technologically
stupid that they barely knew that the box had been sent out with incorrect
parameters. It took two months before they "discovered" how to give out
the correct parameters and where to put them. However, they hadn't read
the rest of the manual to figure out how to setup the PPPOE client in the
DSL modem. Since that was unsupported, and this setup was working, I
elected not to experiment. One of the few times I have been so cautious.
That part doesn't seem to be broken. It's dns that seems to be the
problem. Do you see anything not working there?
