Upgrading workstations - rerun connectcomputer ?

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

I am upgrading workstations on an existing SBS Premium domain.
The new machines are XPsp2 with Office 2k3.

I'd prefer to keep the old computer name and just switch out the
hardware and migrate over the user settings and setup Outlook 2003,
Firewall etc. AND keeping their old email etc.

Is this as simple as switching out the hardware and then running
connectcomputer again or am I being too nieve ?
