I wouldn't want to deal with a POP3 host like that either-- but
I'm just telling the OP that he could wind up looking like a goat instead of
a hero if he isn't prepared to deal with spam after he takes the POP3 server
out of the equation. I suspect that many POP3 hosts are doing at least some
sort of spam filtering even if they aren't advertising it simply as a matter
of self-preservation. You don't have to like it-- I certainly would rather
have a totally unfiltered mail stream-- but you have to be aware of it and
deal with it. If I suggest a change like that and all of a sudden the spam
starts pouring in, guess who gets the blame?
