Hello Charles,

Thank you for posting the SBS Newsgroup.

I understand that you are trying to install the Fax Service Client software
(\\ServerName\faxclient) on your client computer and you received the
following error:

Fax must be installed as a Windows component using Add or Remove Programs
in the Control Panel. Following installation, use the Add Printer Wizard in
Printers and Faxes to add a connection to a remote fax printer on the fax
server.

Is this a Windows XP client computer? Actually in Windows 2000, you can
successfully install the Fax Client Software from the shared folder;
however, in Windows XP, please follow these steps to install it:

1. Open Control Panel and open Add or Remove Programs.

2. Click Add/Remove Windows Components.

3. Check "Fax Service" and complete the wizard.

After the fax service is installed on the client computer, please browse to
\\ServerName and double click the "Fax" printer to install it.

Then please go to Start ' Printers and Faxes, and double click the "Fax on
ServerName" icon to bring up the Fax Console

If this is not your case, please let me know:

1. What is the exact error message?

2. What's the client computer's Operating System? Windows XP or Windows
2000?

3. Did the problem happen on all client computers?

I hope the above info helps and I look forward to your update.

Best regards,

Brandy Nee
