Sorry to not get back sooner- been a hectic week.
I've tried MBSA on the server and I get an error reading ALL clients. I
can't find much in the way of support documentation for MBSA. So I tried
installing MBSA locally on my laptop which is XP PRO SP2 with simple file
sharing enabled. When I tell it to scan "This computer" it brings up the
progress bar but never progresses. I could leave it there for hours and it
will not time out or scan.
When that failed to work I tried creating an administrative share of c on my
laptop and then tried scanning again from the server. I still get
192.168.16.38 : Computer not found. I can ping, I can connect to it via WMI
and even remote registry. Not at all sure why I can't scan it with MBSA. I've
tried to find another way to tell if my clients are in fact updating but to
no avail.
Via GPO we have Windows Updates from the start menu and control panel turned
off so that the users cannot override the SUS updates so if we're not getting
SUS updates, we're not getting anything. I'm starting to feel very
uncomfortable not knowing if we're actually getting updates or not.
Any other suggestions??
Thanks,
Nancy
