Hi Jon,

Thanks for your reply.

The problem seems to be brought by that your hard disk has some physical
issue or the folders are corrupted since the error message is "the
directory is not accessible, because the device is not ready". If the
user does not have the permission to access the folder, the error message
should be "<folder name> is not accessible. Access Denied."

You may contact the vendor of the machine to check if there are any
problems on hard disk or Mass storage controller.

After that, you may restore the system from your backup device or reinstall
the SBS if there is no backup media. I do not recommend you exclude these 2
folders since the AD information are stored in them.

In addition, I am not sure which partition the SBS is installed on. Is the
folder WinNT or Windows on Partition C or Partition D?

I am looking forward to your reply.

Best regards,

Crina Li (MSFT)

| Thank you for your help. I followed all of your suggestions and checked
the
| permissions. However, I am still having the problem, and I do not have
any
| media to restore them from.
|
| Since D:\ is not the boot volume, and those same directories are being
| backed up off the boot volume (C:\), can I just exclude them from the
backup?
