Maybe this is a stupid question, but why do alot of posts and MS info seem to
always refer to using 2 NIC's ?
Do most installations not use a router between the modem & the server ?
I started with 1 NIC with a NetGear FR114P router. My ISP uses PPPoE and the
router handles the authentication, plus my general understanding is the
NetGear firewall is better than the SBS 2003 standard firewall, especially
from the
logging and monitoring standpoint.
I'm new to SBS and getting ready for my 3rd install, and I'm trying to
decide if I should pull the 2nd NIC out.........or if this will benefit me
someway in the future as the system grows (adding a switch to NIC 2 instead
of adding it to the router).
Any guidance is welcomed.
Bob
