Hi Jason...

WSS is not one of my strong suits but if you want to change or correct a
Display Name in WSS, try the following URL
http://companyweb/_layouts/1033/userinfo.aspx

This will display the User Information for all Companyweb users. If you
click on a Display Name and then click Edit User Information, you should be
able to change the Display Name for that user.

WSS FAQ

Q: 78 How can I amend a Display Name after it has been defined on creating a
new user?

The page you go to via the WSS user interface when you "Modify Users"
doesn't allow to to amend the Display Name.

The solution is that you have to go to the page

http://>/_layouts/1033/userinfo.aspx

and then select the user whose display name you want to change.

Note: (as I didn't at first) that <sitename> might be servername/subsitename
etc.

When I took over administration of our SBS2003 I noticed one user (our CEO)
had a user name spelled incorrectly. I was successful in correcting the id
using the users/properties on the server. It's been over a year since I've
seen the misspelling ... until today.
When I went to manage the users on the companyweb site, I noticed that the
misspelled user name was listed again. So I removed it and when to add a
user back. I type in the email address and locate the user I'm after. All of
the information appears correctly with the email address, domain\user and
Full Name all spelled correctly. When I click "finish" the list of users
appears and includes the misspelled domain\user name again. I've looked
everywhere in AD for this misspelled name .. I don't see it anywhere.
Where is this coming from and how do I correct it?
