More like time to purchase a large capacity, hardware compression capable
tape drive. Travan has been extremely un-reliable and failure prone. Besides
the cost of the backup software to enable software compression ands allow
exchange backup costs probably more than the drive and some tapes. Not to
mention software compression will still NOT double your drive capacity...
you will be lucky to get 16 gigabytes...

I use VXA drives by ecrix http://www.exabyte.com/products/index.cfm#vxa
they are economical for small biz, (tape are $$$ though) but pretty fast,
efficient and reliable. They still come in various sizes and are IDE or scsi
(external USB is available but slow) my 2 cents!
