Installation terminates when "documenents & Setting" not in default location

Hi all,

I hope somebody here can help me out or tell me why my current method of
installation is not working.

At the moment I'm developing a full unattended installation script for the
Windows 2003 Server family, including sbs2003. The winnt.sif file works very
well in so far that the initial installation is fully unattended and without any
errors. The problem occurs when the Windows 2003 SBS integration phase starts.

The initial integration step (promoting to a Domain controller) works okay.
Right after continuing on the "components summary" dialog the setup program
crashes with the following erorr message:

"A problem has been encountered while installing the Setup files. Cancelling
setup"

After that I can only select "finish"or "cancel" and in both situations the
setup program terminates.

Through much trial and error (I must have done like 30 installations ) I've
found out that the error only happens when the "documents & settings" directory
is not in the default location (on the same drive as where SBS2003 is installed,
normally c:).

In my case this folder has been moved to the E: drive with the help of the
following entry in the winnt.sif file.

ProfilesDir = "E:\Documents and Settings"

This is the preferred way, as Microsoft describes in their documentation:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q236621/

So, after trying different leads I'm a bit at a lost. I have no idea why the
setup program trips over this alternative "documents and settings" location. The
errorlog (see below below) contains some information but I see nothing that is
related to that specific folder location.

I hope somebody can shine some light on this..

TIA,

Marco
