Fastest delivery of email would be to use SMTP.

My gut instinct says it would be less secure, but it really depends on
whether the AV software running on the client is actually up to dealing
with virus-laden email. Normally, virus-laden email would never even be
seen by a user (the Exchange AV would dump it, or prevent it from ever
hitting mailboxes), but with this scenario, it will probably be seen.
My second comment would be that I don't trust Symantec at all, for
anything. I've seen too much software that becomes part of the Symantec
stable go downhill.
