several questions:

1. I have a Dell Poweredge 1750 just a few months old. Just recently the
server hung (during a Veritas Exchange agent backup). I plugged a usb
keyboard in and it was still hung so I had to do a hard boot. Upon restart
neither usb port will recognize a keyboard or mouse.

The root hub and controller appear to be okay but when a device is plugged
in it shows as "unknown device" and the drivers aren't loaded.

I've tried removing and reinstalling. Don't see a way to reinstall from the
OS CD. So, currently I'm stumped.

The work around for above fortunately is to use ps2.

2. I was considering adding a usb hard drive to this server as an added
backup and couldn't tell if the onboard usb is 2.0. Microsoft says that the
description in device manager should include "enhanced" and that's how you
tell the difference. I don't see it for this server but it seems odd that a
brand new machine wouldn't be usb 2.0

All of the above said am I better off just adding a 30 dollar adaptec usb
2.0 card to be sure I get the throughput?

Thanks and I know I was a bonehead for plugging that dadburn keyboard in
while it was hung.
