The reason they say that is that most don't delegate out the necessary
rights in Active Directory to allow for a clean rename. In the out of the
box experience, only domain administrators can rename a 2000/XP workstation
w/out going thru the unjoin/join routine. (Basically one logs onto the
workstation with domain administrator account [which grants local
administrator rights] and then performs the rename and reboot.)
