Thanks for getting back to me.

In case it makes a difference I am doing most of this work using remote
desktop. The client is 15 miles away and I can only realistically access the
server after 6pm when the office shuts and before 8pm when the backup starts
to run!

1. Yes I am using the Administrator account but having checked the groups it
is a member of a whole range including:

Administrators
Domain Admins
Domain Users
Enterprise Admins
Group Policy Creator Owners
Mobile Users
SAVFMSE Admins
Schema Admins

Do you think it would be worth creating a new logon which is purely a member
of Administrator?

2. The error message is a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark. It
occurs at the end of the small business set up wizard in the closing box
before it ends exactly as listed below.

------------------------------

Server Tools - Administration

An error occurred while setting permissions for the folders and files
installed by Windows Small Business Server Setup

------------------------------

3. I cant see much in the event log. The only Red one that occurs is just
before the restart as follows:

Event ID 10010

The Server did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

I don't know whether this is related or not. There are loads of errors in
the Application log but these relate to licensing errors i.e. not enough
licences - but of course I cant add any as the wizard wont run!

4. Ill have to check the latest updates. I have installed Exchange SP1 and
routine hotfixes as appropriate.

5. Norton Antivirus is running so I can try turning this off next time.

6. The error logs are present and are fairly long I will try the wizard
again and then check the logs for the time span during which I ran the
wizard. Otherwise it might be quire difficult to isolate particular
messages.
