Hi Bill & all,
Thanks for the response, just to let you know that I have been able to
resolve the issue of the Intranet not installing by getting hold of the
updated Disk 3. The install wen't without a hitch after running the full
clean-up of the registry, files and msde etc. as you detailed in your email.
I now have a working default companyweb.
I do however still have a problem, although I specified for the install of
the Intranet to go onto drive D, the MSDE instance is holding it's data
(STS_Config and STS_MACHINENAME_1) on drive C, under C:\Program
Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$SHAREPOINT\Data. And due to this I'm unable
to restore the database from our backup.
We are running Veritas BackupExec v10 and the MSDE restore (using the agent)
will not complete, although I have been able to restore the two databases to
a seperate SQL server.
So, is there a way I can point our newly installed and working companyweb to
the databases held on the seperate SQL server?
I must just say that this experience with Sharepoint Services has left a
very bitter taste in the mouth, and am thankful that we only just started to
use it inhouse and not an established client.
Regards,
James
