Thanks you for your feedback.
The NDR has number 4.4.7. THe message is as follows:
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. ... Could
not deliver the message in the time limit specified. Please retry or contact
your administrator. <servername.domain.local>
The companies are 2 distinct entities. companyA.com and companyB.com. They
share office space and want to share the server and it's resources.
The reason that the domain name wasn't entered is that there isn't a single
domain that encompassess both companies. The set up states that if you have
don't have one, domain name, to proceed anyway. If I select the option to not
use Exchange for Internet e-mail mail still doesn't get sent.
The outlook client is configured with Exchange and POP3.
The issue is that external mail is not being routed. This is a brand new
installation so I have only one user logging into the domain to test the
system before I add more client machines to the domain. With previous
installations I have done, there has always been a public domain name, and
there haven't been any issues. In this particular case mail can't be assigned
a public domain because each company has a public domain host with a third
party ISP.
Please let me know if this clarifies anything.
