I believe it _possible_ that if you put a single channel IDE controller in
there the BIOS would automagically offer it as a choice in the boot menu.
I belive it would _possibly_ be safer to use an IDE RAID controller (not
many dollars more) because it is more likely to present itself as a 'SCSI or
RAID' device.
If the BIOS has options for 'boot this, boot that,,, etc...' and a further
option for 'try other bootable devices' it's worth a go.

If the additional controller doesn't offer itself as a boot option you may
still be able to copy it to the SATA drive(s) and boot into DSRM.
