Hi, Marcia
Thanks for posting here!
>From the description, I understand that you run into the problem that the
NTBackup is unable to recognize media in the tape drive after the hotfix
831664 was applied..
In most cases, the problem is caused by the incompatibility with the
hardware.
To identify the root cause, I'd like to gather the following information
first:
1. What's the exact model of your tape drive?
2. Does it start working if you put in a new tape?
3. Are you able to backup to the tape if you run NTBackup natively
with the same tape,?
4. Is there any RSM error in event log?
According to my experience, I'd like to give the following action plan:
A. Remove the tape drive from Device Manager.
B. Remove the tape device from RSM.
C. Do a scan for hardware changes in Device Manager.
D. Device Manager should re-detect the device and install it. RSM should
automatically install it a few minutes after that.
E. Attempt an inventory from a tape with backup data after RSM has
re-detected and installed the device.
Please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any further concerns or
questions regarding the issue.
Have a nice day!
Best regards,
Jerry Zhao
