Re: Antivirus and backup software - install where?

I have used it (rarely). And if one follows Harry's advice and increases
that beyond 30 days, it would have even less benefit. I have (rarely) seen a
mailbox get corrupted to where it was easier to just blow it away and
restore, but that was before caching, etc. With so much spam, many users are
doing <shift> delete on groups of messages, I think that bypasses recovery
( haven't tested yet). More than one has permanently deleted a message they
didn't mean to.

I just want to point out that there is at least one item that is a
differentiation, albeit not an issue for many.

I personally don't really care for the built-in backup, I prefer to use
Veritas and then cuss it when it stops working for some unknown reason :)
And just this week I was frustrated trying to use NTBackup and having to do
NG searches to find out what /UM means (not in documentation, although the
/M switch is listed twice) and get that going on a server that didn't have
Veritas. I'm not one to just tell the computer to back itself up and then
trust it when it says it did. (Trust but Verify, ya know). I even have one
SBS 2003 server that won't display the backup summary page in Server Manager
for some unknown reason, it says to restart services - heck I even
rebooted - but still no go. Haven't had time to track that one down yet. It
was working up until 2 days ago.

Roger.
