Applying computer settings - SLOW

I had posted a similar question yesterday, but figured maybe I would word it
a little differently today to see if I can give a better understanding of my
probelm. I have recently started at a new company and have noticed the
following problem: When Windows XP machines are started they hang for a while
at the applying computer settings prompt. This usually hangs for about 2 min
tops. Everything that I have read suggests that it is a DNS issue, but I have
verified the following and yet it still does not work. The server is SBS2003,
DNS is installed and set to point at itself on the server. Originally the DNS
included the external ISP dns ip addresses, but I have moved those to the
forwarders section within DNS. The client machines were pointing to the
internal DNS server as well as the external, I have removed the external
entries and now they are pointing to only the internal. The older clients
were not added to DNS, but I have also taken care of that. Now the machines
still hang at the "applying computer settings" prompt. I have also now
noticed that since I removed the external dns entries that internally I can
not reach google or yahoo. I seem to have no problem with any other addres
except these two (that I am aware of). If I add the external DNS entries back
to the local mahine I can resolve to googel and yahoo. I have posted this to
the Windows XP community postings as well, just in case to see if anyone has
suggestions. I can properly resolve all internal nslookups as well as ping
internal addresses and get the proper results. PLEASE HELP if you can. I have
also called the ISP to verify that the external dns ip addresses are correct.
