Hi Marina,
I resolved the issue. you're gonna love it. customer is using TZ-170
sonicwall Standard version for firewall and was using the DMZ/OPT port for a
webserver that also had SSL pointing to it. Standard version apparently
doesn't have the intelligence to route same protocols to two different
servers and since SSL wasn't enabled on the webserver itself i kept getting
the generic 'no help message' of bad dns or server error. firewall debug and
logging wasn't much help in actually tracking the path and progress of
packets so in desperation i tried turning off SSL for the webserver and boom
badda bim, up it came. i really appreciate your help as it helped me in the
troubleshoot process.
btw, the word remote isn't necessary, just the https://ip address.
