OK... I'm back...
After rebooting with a clean log I found the following errors and warnings:
Application Log:
Warning - ID 1003: TraceFileName parameter not located in registry; Default
trace file used is .
Warning - ID 1015: TraceLevel parameter not located in registry; Default
trace level used is 32.
Error - ID 1000: #50070: Unable to connect to the database STS_Config on
SBS\SharePoint. Check the database connection information and make sure that
the database server is running.
Warning: ID63: A provider, PerfProv, has been registered in the WMI
namespace, ROOT\CIMV2\MicrosoftHealthMonitor\PerfMon, to use the LocalSystem
account. This account is privileged and the provider may cause a security

Warning- ID 63: A provider, PerfProv, has been registered in the WMI
namespace, ROOT\CIMV2\MicrosoftHealthMonitor\PerfMon, to use the LocalSystem
account. This account is privileged and the provider may cause a security
violation if it does not correctly impersonate user requests.
System Log:
Warning - ID 1071:The World Wide Web Publishing Service failed to enable
bandwidth throttling on site '5' because QoS Packet Scheduler is not
installed.
... and that's all
I just tried to add a distribution list and after waiting for a couple of
minutes the following error appeared - "The wizard could not successfully
configure this group. The following could not be completed: The exchange
public folder could not be created."
If I look in the Public Folders in the Exchange MMC I see that the folder
was actually created. There are no new errors or warnings inany of the logs
in the Event Viewer.
