Not a bother Mark. We hang out here to help if we can, and learn about
problems and issues -before- we face them ourselves.
Boot from DVD and Reformat of the System Partition would be the way to
go.
With a re-install the SIDs will change so the users will have to
Reconnect to the "New" Domain and so will get new Profiles. If these are
XP Clients you can migrate their old profiles as part of the
/connectcomputer process, if not you'll need to log on as Admin and copy
their old profile to their new.
Depending upon how much you use of the Outlook/Exchange features and how
many users you have it may be easier to export the mailboxes to .pst
files and re-import ( either manually or via exmerge - Public folders
will need to be exported manually via outlook anyway) .. You'll lose
some Exchange space as you'll break the unified store, but that may not
be an issue if the store isn't too big.
I'd suggest you do an Exchange aware backup ( to roll up the Logs )
before you re-install, as well as Cloning the Disk. ( Belt & Braces ).
During the re-install select new locations for the User Folders and Data
Stores, and then copy your existing data to those.
Once you have a clean working system I'm sure you'll find SBS a dream.
P.S. During the initial install Disconnect all Clients ( Cables ) from
the Switch, and Plug the LAN and Internet NICs into it. Then, before
starting the To-Do-List, connect the Inet NIC to your Firewall/Router
DSL and the clients to the Switch. - If you come across issues, this Ng
is Global, so there's usually someone awake...
