Without knowing how your server is connected to the internet and whether or
not you have 1 or 2 NICs, the answer to your problem might vary. I'll take
a stab at it anyway.

If you have a router/firewall installed, you will also need to open port 444
on it. You will then setup a port forward on the router to the IP address
of the SBS server. If your server has 2 NICs in it, point it to the
external NIC.

Even though your SBS does not have ISA, it still has a basic firewall. The
easiest way to configure this would be to run Configure E-mail and Internet
Connection Wizard. (CEICW) One of the questions will ask you which services
you want to be available externally. (companyweb, etc.) This will open up
the necessary ports on the firewall for you automatically. If you have a
UPnP router, you can choose to have your router configured automatically
too.

The above instructions worked for me on SBS 2003. I've never used any of
the previous versions so I'm not sure if it varies. If the above info does
not solve your problem, give us more details about your system.
