What exactly are you Backing-up ?
If you're backing up the Recovery Storage Group - Don't.
Also, if the Exchange files are on the system partition and you're
performing a system state backup along with the Exchange backup
simultaneously - Don't.

Personally I'd suggest you use the To-Do List Backup Wizard.
The Backup created is a true Disaster Recovery solution.
