Confirming the suggestion of a swing migration, it miminizes downtime, lets
you keep the original server name and the client computers do not have to be
reconfigured.
It requires a temporary server "swing" server . . . which is a put-off for
some small implementors. I carry a small form factor Compaq Deskpro P3-550
with a Server 2003 mirrored drive as the swing server for capturing the
network configuration and migrated data . . total cost is minimal and it
works.
