To anyone who can help.
I've recently installed SBS 2003 at a site with clients using both XP
Home and XP Pro. I'm currently unable to access the Internet via
either ver of XP at the client end. The server however has no
problems at all and browsing fine. The clients can ping/access the
server fine as expected. The odd thing is that when I ping say
www.microsoft.com from the clients I get the IP conversion come up in
the first line but then Request Timed Out, this seems to prove my DNS
is functioning fine and is communicating with the client but something
seems to be stopping further traffic. The XP pro pc's have been added
to the domain but makes no diff.
All the clients are using DHCP and everything points back to the
server. I'm usually clued up with DNS/Internet access etc but this
has totally got me licked. I have however not setup Internet access
directly plugged into the back of the server. I usually install an
external router which makes life alot easier but am having to deal
with an awkward customer.
I've also run the Internet Connection Wizard in SBS a number of times
but to no avail. I've also checked that none of the PC's are running
SP2.
Also as it's a dial-on-demand type connection when the server makes an
internet request the server auto-dials, this is not the case if it's
from the client. Could this be caused by some sort of security priv?
Any assistance in this is greatly appreciated.
Spiro
