Hello Russ.
I'd like to get a little more information on this. Let's do the following:
1. Enable SMTP logging on the SMTP virtual server:
a. Open Exchange System Manager
b. Expand Servers, your server name, Protocols, and SMTP.
c. Right-click on Default SMTP Virtual Server and select properties.
d. Turn on the "Enable logging" checkbox if it is not already on.
e. Click Properties under logging, then click on the Advanced tab.
f. Enable all checkboxes under logging options, except the last three items.
g. Close out of the SMTP Virtual Server properties windows, saving all the
changes.
2. Enable diagnostics logging on the MSExchangeTranport service
a. In Exchange System Manger, right-click on your server and select
Properties.
b. Click the Diagnostics Logging tab.
c. Under Services, click on MSExchangeTransport.
d. Set the logging level to Maximum for the following categories:
Routing Engine/Service, Connection Manager, Queuing Engine, Exchange Store
Driver, SMTP Protocol
e. Close out of the Properties window, saving all changes.
3. Restart the SMTP and Exchange System Attendant services.
Enabling the diagnostics logging for MSExchangeTranport service is going to
put an overwhelming amount of information into your application log, so
don't leave that set to Maximum for any length of time. Basically, after
you enable the logging, send a few test messages, then go back and turn off
the logging, restarting the SMTP and Exchange System Attendant services
after you do. Then export the Application log to a CSV file and e-mail it
and the SMTP log file in c:\windows\system32\logfiles\smtpsvc to me. Remove
the "online." from my e-mail address to get this information to me.
Thanks.
