What cable for a compaq T1000h UPS?

I'm looking at connecting a Compaq T1000h UPS to my Dell PowerEdge 6400
server running Windows 2003. I've not been able to locate a serial cable
specific for this UPS, but I have come across a 'standard' serial cable
that is designed for UPS->Server, and also so-called 'smart' UPS serial
cables for use with APC UPS H/W.

I'm guessing that the Compaq is rebadged hardware (possibly APC?) - does
anyone know if the smart cable would work in this configuration?
