Hi Frank,
Proxy is blank, detect is unchecked - I've noticed that I can generally ping
by IP but never by name
The other strange thing is that there is always one website i can see from
any client, but its out own website, however it is nothing to do with our
internal network, its just a Cobalt Raq4 server that we own and that is
located in a datacentre at the other side of the world, the only thing it
that even vaguely links it to our network here is that we connect to it
every few minutes with the "pop3 connector".
I always check my connection by checking "google.com" - and this is where it
gets stranger!!
As stated before i tend to follow the same actions everytime the connection
drops in this manner;
- Disable the ADSL network Connection
- Change the ADSL IP address
- Enable the ADSL Network Connection
- Change the IP back again
- View a few websites on the server, generally begining with google.com
- Generally approx 1 minute after viewing google.com on the SBS2k3 server, I
can view google.com on the clients, along with our own domain from which we
pick up email.. however I cannot see any subdomains, ie: news.google.com or
indeed any other websites.
- Again note that I can however connect to anything via smtp, pop3, msn
messenger
- several minutes later, everything will suddenly work, with no intervention
from me, and no actions of any kind by anybody
It seems as though the config of everything is correct, as when it works it
is faultless
I'm wondering if perhaps some DNS cache is flushing and ressetting on a
regular basis (it seems to happen almost every 24 hours, mid morning) + the
way the net seems to some back in stages is extremely puzzling
Hope you can help, and thanks for all your efforts - it is much appreciated
Cheers,
Completely Lost & Confused

Hi Nathan
In IE Connections is Proxy blank and detect automatically unchecked? When
you cannot browse can you ping Yahoo.com from WS by name or IP?
