I agree with Jeff, up to 30 days out is too much for me. The best thing for
backups is to have them going off site ASAP after the backup, usually the
next business day. Of course, if you have a dedicated fire rated server
room with low oxygen fire suppression system (inert gas systems such as
Halon are banned here) and over pressure sealed then you can probably keep
the tapes on site for a month. But I have only seen this type of setup in
the large corporate environments and you wouldn't be posting here if this
was your situation.
