Greetings Marina,

I *always* have a secondary DNS server.
This has been a standard implementation for many networks.
Of course, I am always open to learn new things.
I would appreciate any links, TID's, etc... that may help
to clarify this for me as I see no problem with it.

Back to my issue,
I am *very* confident that the DNS configuration has
nothing to do with what is happening on this server. Name
resoultion and other features continue to function
properly, it's just the shares that go away. The more I
think about it the more lanman params seem suspect. Event
logs are incomplete to say the least, often blank during
the times the shares "disappear". Also note this server
was fine for almost a year prior to the main application
conversion (from ClubTec to Jonas).

As I said before, the Jonas app is VERY chatty. I have
noticed that the application "Jonas" can send 7 to 12
print jobs in a single second. At the same time many small
files are being opened by the workstations. I have had
similar experiences years ago on Netware servers where
locks and opens had to be tweaked and I am thinking
something similar here, though I have not had to do this
on a 2000 Server of any colour, ever. I believe the
hardware is not at fault either. This is a Compaq ML350
2GB RAM RAID5 array that never had any issue prior to this
application "Jonas" being installed.

I am currently trying to find out if this app is pure 32-
bit or if there are 16-bit components as I recall there
are some differences in the tweaks depending.

Any input or direction you can offer will be greatly
appreciated.

Best,
~M
