Hi All,

I'm having the strangest problem with a clean built SBS2003 server, I
can't seem to track down the issues and am hoping others have seen
this.

I clean build SBS2003 accepting all the defaults, then let Windows
Update do it's job. Once complete I enable the POP3 service, create a
couple users and configure them as admins, everything seems to be
running great at this point!

I now attempt to install the IIS g-zip compression fix (831464) in
order to install the Exchange SP1 update, but once installed and
rebooted I get one of the following problems:

- CHKDSK needs to run on C:, and due to unknown errors it can't run.

- Active Directory service indices are corrupt, which forces a reboot
on the system. AD recovery doesn't repair. Sometimes this error goes
away after a clean reboot.

- The latest are Event errors such as:

** Accept clients on external interface MAPIRPC failed with error
0x4b1.

** The HTTP Filter DLL C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft
Shared\Web Server Extensions\50\bin\fpexedll.dll failed to load. The
data is the error.

** Could not load all ISAPI filters for site/service. Therefore
startup aborted.

I have made no attempt to connect a browser to OWA or other services.
I haven't installed Exc SP1 update due to these issues. The system is
basically stock clean when I try to run the updates. If I let the
machine run without the 831464 update it seems to run without issue.
This hardware has been running Win2000 Advanced Server with Exchange
2003 for 6 months with no issues.

I have re-installed SBS 8 or 9 times now in the past 5 days, each time
with one of these failures along the way. As you might imagine I am
more than frustrated at this point, and don't know what else to try.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
James
