I know similar questions have been asked so many times but the more I read
on this subject the more confused I become, and I thought this bit would be
easy ;)
Server has two network cards
Internal Network: 192.168.16.2, subnet: 255.255.255.0
ADSL 192.168.1.2, subnet: 255.255.255.0, gateway: 192.168.1.1, Primary
DNS: 192.168.1.1
And one ADSL router
192.168.1.1, subnet 255.255.255.0
At the moment, for testing purposes, the router is going to be getting a
dynamically assigned ISP provided IP address and DNS entries. Later on when
at the customers site it will have a fixed IP address and fixed ISP provided
DNS entries.
Question is in the CEICW under 'Direct Broadband connection' what do I use
for the Prefered Gateway and DNS entries? I'm not sure what settings these
actually change!
Am I correct in thinking that for the moment both the prefered Gateway and
DNS entries should be set to the address of the ADSL router (192.168.1.1).
And that when this is delivered to the customers site I should run the CEICW
again and set the prefered Gateway should be to the ISP provided fixed IP
address and the DNS entries to the ISPs DNS servers?
Thanks,
Nick
