Essentially the problem that you're having is name resolution because your relying on the router to do DNS
When you don't configure everything to run through SBS you will have this problem...whether you run 1 nic or two (recommended)
Outside dns knows nothing of your inside pcs and so routing does not work well inside the lan without this.

Chris, thanks for your reply.
I have 1 nic and it's connected to Linksys WRV54g Wireless router, which in
turn is connected to an ADSL modem out to the internet The clients connect to
the SBS via the router and browse the internet without going through SBS. The
all have Symantec Client secuirty 2.0 installed (AV and firewall) and SBS has
the Symantec Exchange client and AV software on it.
It is planned at a later date to connect the 2nd nic up (it's currently
disabled) and reconfigure web access through SBS.
I look forward to your reply,
Cheers,
Dave
