Hi Gary!
There's a subtle difference between file-sharing and file-transfers.
File sharing is often done on local networks where connection speeds are
high (10mb or higher) and users often open files while they reside on
the server. File transfer is more suited to Internet use where
connectivity is often less than 1mb. You'd choose to transfer files
first and work on copies local to your computer.
AppleShareIP has Windows file sharing built-in and works just like a
Windows file server for clients. However, sharing your server's Windows
shares over the Internet is not a good idea.
I would suggest using AppleShareIP's built in FTP server to allow any
Internet clients to upload and download files. You wouldn't expect files
to be open across the Internet as you would with a LAN so this should be
acceptable.
Unless you need additional security beyond AppleShareIP's security or
more robust browsing and file transfers, you don't need any additional
software.
Hope this helps! bill
