Richard,

The Microsoft Exchange MTA Stacks service is normally disabled on Exchange 2003 Servers on SBS 2003. This same service is configured to
start automatically on the SBS 2000 Exchange 2000 Servers.

You can safely ignore the MTA warning messages on the SBS 2003 server.

Thanks - I had already followed steps a-f, but I have been through them
again just to make sure. You are right in that the logon name is the user's
forename but her email address is forename.surname@domain2.org.

I had turned up the logging to max earlier on today. The irritating thing is
there are no warnings relating to the emails to this user. There are 3
events whenever a message is received:
1049 - message <id> was routed to user@domain2.org by an individual mailbox
mapping
1051 - delivery process for message <id> finished successfully
1047 - delivery process finished successfully

But it never appears in the mailbox!!

The only warning in the application log is:
2000 - verify that the MTA service has started. Consecutive ma-open calls
are failing with error 3051.

The MTA service is indeed disabled in server management. Is this
significant? Emails to users @domain1.org are getting through.

Richard
