When the security log was full, I had a network issue and
did a hard reboot on the server. Since then I no longer
get the message that the security log is full, but
neither can I log on. Although I'm logging in at the
console as administrator with the same password I've
always used, the message comes back with "The system
could not log you on. Make sure your user name and
domain are correct." We cannot access the server remotely
either. The server has one wired and one wireless NIC.
This happened this morning just after I downloaded an
upgrade to Microsoft Broadband Network Security on a
client pc that has a Microsoft wireless card in a
workgroup with a Linksys router. We also started using
WEP on the wireless. One wireless client can get in with
the WEP key, but another cannot. That client can get in
using a wired NIC, but not with the wireless.
Obviously the key issue is that the server is not serving
and I'm locked out so I can't fix it. Everything else is
just background.
