If that doesn't work, you can also migrate the profile manually using
either of the methods below.

A. Use moveuser.exe to migrate the profile.
------------------------------------------------------------------

moveuser.exe is a Windows 2000 reskit tool to migrate user profiles. You
can use the Windows 2000 version on Windows XP.

1. Login locally to the XP Pro client computer and create a new local user
account that is a member of the local

Administrators group.

2. Logoff and logon to the XP Pro client computer using the local account
you created in Step 1.

3. Run the command: Moveuser.exe user1 %sbsdomain%\user2 /k /y

Where:

user1

specifies a user who has a local profile. Specify domain users in
DOMAIN/user format; specify only user for local

accounts.

user2

specifies the user who will own the user1 profile. This account must
already exist. Specify domain users in DOMAIN/user

format; specify only user for local accounts.

/c:computer

specifies the computer on which to make the changes.

/k

specifies that if user1 is a local user, then the user account should be
kept.

/y

allows overwriting an existing profile.

4. Logoff and logon to the SBS 2003 domain as the DOMAINNAME\DomainUser
account. This user should now have the

COMPUTERNAME\LocalUser account's profile.

B. Manually copy the profile.
--------------------------------------------

1. Login locally to the XP Pro client computer and create a new local user
account that is a member of the local

Administrators group.

2. Logoff and logon to the XP Pro client computer using the local account
you created in Step 1.

3. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel. Double-click System.
4. Click the Advanced tab. In the User profiles section, click the Settings
button.
5. Select the DOMAINNAME\DomainUser account and click the Copy To button.
6. In the Copy profile to box specify a folder to save a backup copy of the
profile. For instance, C:\DomainUser-profile-

backup.
7. In the Permitted to use section, click the Change button and specify the
DOMAINNAME\DomainUser account. Note: This is

the same account you selected in Step 5.

You may have to specify a Domain Administrator's credentials to select the
DomainUser account.

Click OK and click OK out of the Copy To dialog box.

8. In the User Profiles dialog box, select the COMPUTERNAME\LocalUser
account and click the Copy To button.

9. In the Copy profile to box click the Browse button and select the path
to the desired DomainUser account. For

instance, C:\Documents and Settings\DomainUser. Click OK.

10. In the Permitted to use section, click the Change button and specify
the DOMAINNAME\DomainUser account.

You may have to specify a Domain Administrator's credentials to select the
DomainUser account.

Click OK and click OK out of the Copy To dialog box. Click OK out of the
User Profiles dialog box.

11. Logoff and logon to the SBS 2003 domain as the DOMAINNAME\DomainUser
account. This user should now have the

COMPUTERNAME\LocalUser account's profile.
