Q: Why would enabling Gzip fix my OWA display issue?
A: Because it does.

Q: Why doesn't KB831464 show up under WU?
A: Because it doesn't

OK, perhaps my answers were a bit too brief and/or sarcastic ...

Matthew, welcome to the real world. Windows Update DOES NOT display all
available patches, and certainly not all hot fixes, as KB831464 is. You bet
it's frustrating ... everyone of us have been through it as well. BTW, WU
does NOT report on SQL patches, Exchange patches, ISA patches, IIS patches,
or Office patches.

Now, on a side note ... you mention that you've run WU for all three sets of
updates (critical, recommended, and drivers). You will find that most people
in this NG will recommend that you ONLY install the critical updates. I
personally have not installed any recommded patches to a server or
workstation in 3 years (well, maybe once, 'cause I wanted to see what a
particular recommended patch would do).

And, I absolutely will NOT use WU to download and install drivers. I may use
WU to see if it thinks there are newer drivers available. And if so, I will
then go to the particular hardware vendor for the latest driver and
instrucitons. Why? Because I;ve screwed up two systems in the past by trying
to use WU for driver updates. Sorry, but I won't do that again!
