Microsoft has published a document on installing SUS in an SBS environment:

Also, keep in mind that the Exchange purists are just that -- Exchange only.
They see SBS as breaking all the rules. That's why it is important to use
the built in wizards. Microsoft has also made some internal tweaks in
putting all of these apps under a single server - including tweaks for
Exchange.

There are many of us who are running SUS just fine on an SBS server.
