Hi Damien,
I'm not sure I understand what your issues are.
a) To access Officescan or Scanmail configuration, a username/password
combination must be used. You can set up a service account(s) for these, or
use Adminstrator account. Having to login is normal.
b) The Officescan http configuration site doesn't get you access to Scanmail
configuration. These are separate applications. Configuration integration in
the form of a console would be a nice touch, but in practice they are very
separate applications and there really is no operational connection between
the two.
c) There is one configuration point for Officescan, and that's through the
Officescan HTTP configuration site. There are 2 ways to configure Scanmail -
HTTP, and the Scanmail Managment Console (Application) from the start menu.
The Scanmail HTTP configuration site is a PITA, and I wouldn't recommend it.
Use the application instead. You must do this from the SBS desktop, but
that's not really a problem with remote connection.
Keep in mind the separate nature of the package - it's three applications.
Officescan, Scanmail, and eManager. There's no management console that
allows configuration all in one place. Once you understand that I think you
will be fine. (BTW, the only reason there is mention of Scanmail in the
Officescan console, is because in C/S/M for SMB, they share the activation
code).
